New Orlean Jazz Orchestra

The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra

Thu • Oct 21 • 7:30 PM
Heymann Performing Arts Center, Lafayette, LA

It will be a southern night when the Grammy Award-winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra takes the sonic power and stylistic versatility of a big band, adds a New Orleans emphasis on groove and accessibility, and swing with the tunes of the musical genius Allen Toussaint. Bring your mother-in-law!

Under new leadership from artistic director and drummer Adonis Rose, the band is showcasing more of its range than ever before. The NOJO is a band for all types of listeners and an especially great entry-point for new fans of jazz. The NOJO is fun and talented, especially when we hear tunes like Southern Nights, and when it gets down to  basics with classic New Orleans Tunes.

Heymann Performing Arts Center, Lafayette, LA

Vibrantly energetic and emotionally captivating, the acclaimed drama Black Angels Over Tuskegee arrives in Lafayette in January.
One of the longest running productions Off-Broadway, this award-winning, historical docudrama is a narrative of six men embarking on a journey to become the first Black aviators in the United States Army Air Forces during a tumultuous era of racial segregation and Jim Crow idealism.

Inspired by true events, Black Angels Over Tuskegee movingly illustrates how the men unite in brotherhood to achieve a communal vision.

Momix: Alice

Momix: Alice

Rescheduled to Next Season
Heymann Performing Arts Center, Lafayette, LA

MOMIX, celebrating their 40th anniversary, brings their fantastical ALICE to Lafayette. Having only toured internationally, Alice was to make its first U.S. Tour in the fall of 2020, then came the lock down.

We are thrilled and honored to present this extraordinary work and company as we return to ‘LIVE’ performances. Famed artistic director Moses Pendleton leads this wildly creative company, which is recognized worldwide as a maverick of creativity and invention.
Pendleton’s latest work takes the audience on a fun adventure with Lewis Carroll’s most beloved character, Alice. Join us in MOMIX-STYLE, with the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and even the Caterpillar!
